HELIOS: Throwback Thursday to the night we torched Helios with Pyro at Burning Man 2016. .🔥

It was one of the most complex and meaningful sculptures I’ve ever made, with a wonderfully dedicated crew of friends, and support from Black Rock FX, the FAST team,the Artery and and BM Honorarium grant, many volunteers and lots of fundraising to make it happen. 🔥. .
.

People asked me if I cried as it burned. I didn’t. But I cried when I opened the altar at the center before it burned. I read all of the beautiful, hopeful and love filled words people wrote to themselves on the 6 continuous secret scrolls hidden inside. They were asked to write what they wanted to illuminate within themselves—They then activated that intention with light beams as they stood like Da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man drawing, in a collective ritual of communal elevation. 🔥.

.i loved this sculpture. But, Sometimes art does not need to last to have personal impact. Sometimes the present moment is exactly enough. .
